Answers To Frequently Asked Questions Regarding Pet Waste Removal

What Does Premier Pet Care Services Do?
PPCS is a professional pet waste clean-up service, sometime s called “pooper scooper” service. We are
dedicated to making a cleaner, healthier environment for you, your family, and your pets.

Is there really someone that does that?

You bet there is. In fact there are many “pooper scooper” companies across the United States and around the
world. As proof, there is even a growing organization of pooper-scooper professionals, The Association of
Professional Animal Waste Specialists (aPAWS) of which, we are a proud member.

Why hire a pet waste pick up service?

For the health of your family, your pets and the environment: Roundworms and hookworms deposited by
infected animals can live in the soil for a long time and be transmitted to other animals and humans Animal
waste may contain harmful organisms such as Giardia, Salmonella and E. coli that can be transmitted to
humans and other animals by ingesting contaminated water. Storm water carries pet waste and other
pollutants directly into waterways. Animal waste adds nitrogen to the water.  Excess nitrogen depletes the
water’s oxygen, which is necessary of healthy underwater grasses, wildlife, and fish. While you might not think
there are any waterways in your area that would be affected, you should know that you live in the Rouge River
Watershed. People with physical limitations that make it difficult or impossible to clean-up after a dog or cat
find that a pet waste pick up service allows them enjoy the comfort and friendship that pet ownership provides.
Hiring PPCS will save you time and the headache of arguing about whom in the family is going to clean it up.
Let’s face facts – no one likes to step in pet waste and spread it into homes, cars and businesses. Your
neighbors will appreciate the good manners. In many urban and suburban areas it’s the law. Pet owners are
required to pick up after their pets. Even if no restrictions exist, cleaning up after your pet is the right thing to
do.

How much does PCCS charge for their services?

With prices starting at just $10.00 per week for one dog and an average size yard, you can’t afford not to have
us clean up after your four-legged family member! For more dogs, more frequent visits or an oversized yard
call us at (734) 981-1998 for an estimate.

How often does Premier Pet Care Services make service calls?

Most of our clients that have one dog prefer once a week service. Those with two or more dogs usually choose
twice a week service. If you would like to receive information about service more often than once a week
please contact us at (734) 981-1998 for an estimate.

Is there an extra charge for the first time?

With your prior approval, there may be a first visit cleaning surcharge for new routine clients whose property
has a large amount of pet waste that has accumulated over a period of time (usually 1 or months).

Is it possible to get one-time or short-term service?

We work Monday-Friday, during the daylight hours. Saturdays are by appointment only and are also for making
up any missed service calls. If we miss your telephone call please let us know when the best time to call you
back is. We pick up our messages throughout the day and will return your call as soon as possible.

Can I schedule my service for a particular day?

PPCS make every  attempt to accommodate your schedule. We recommend that if you have a lawn service
that our service be scheduled for the day before.

Do I have to sign a contract?

You will need to sign a service agreement which gives PPCS permission to enter your property and to outline
our policies and procedures. There is no minimum service and you can start or stop service with a phone call.

What if I want to skip a service day?

You will not be charged if you contact our office and give us at least a 24-hour notice. If the dog(s) will be
gone from the yard for a couple of weeks, or for some other reason you want us to skip your yard for a day or
more, we hold service and you will not be charged. However, remember that per the service agreement if your
dog is there during an extended service interruption we may require an extra fee on first return visit. This
usually involves a month or more of interrupted service depending or the number of dogs you have.

Do I have to be there when PPCS is?

Only for the first visit which will be arranged at a mutually convenient time. During this first visit we go over
the service agreement and get acquainted with you. It is also a good time to meet your dog(s) to determine is
they are going to object to us being in your yard.

Should I unlock my gate?

Yes. PPCS employees are not allowed to climb or jump over fences for their safety. You can leave your gate
unlocked for our service call; however, if you prefer to keep the gate locked you may provide us with a key or
tell us the lock combination. Unfortunately, we do have to charge for missed service calls due to a locked
gate (the first time this happens is on us.)

Can PPCS work with my dog(s) in the yard?

We love animals or we would not be in this business. If after our first get acquainted meeting with you and
your dog(s) it is determined that your dog(s) are friendly and will allow strangers (us) into their yard when you
are not home then they are welcome to be out when we are there.  The only problem we may encounter with
them in the yard is that they want to be petted and jump on us. They learn quickly that when we visit they
receive a treat, with your prior approval of course. If you know that you dog(s) will not let us into the yard, is
aggressive, is territorial, a biter, or a serious escape risk we ask that you keep your dog(s) restrained or
confined. We do not want to take any risks with your dog or our employees. Remember if we can’t get in your
yard due to a locked gate or an aggressive dog(s) we have to charge for missed service calls (again the first
time is on us.)

How will I know it’s a PPCS employee in my yard?

All PPCS representatives wear red polo golf shirts with the PPCS logo on the front, black pants or shorts,

Care Services sign on them making them easily identifiable.

Why can’t I put my dog’s waste into the soil as fertilizer?

Dog feces are protein based like human feces. It is not and effective soil conditioner or plant fertilizer. In fact,
it can become a health hazard due to possible parasitic infections.

What are the health risks associated with dog feces?

Parasitic and viral infections can be transmitted via infected pet waste. In most cases infection will be limited
to dogs and/or cats, but humans can be affected in some circumstances. Anyone is at risk of becoming
infected, however, children are at the most risk because they tend to play outside more, and frequently put
dirty hands in their mouth or eyes. Anyone with a suppressed immune system is particularly susceptible to
these parasites and viruses.

Parasitic infections that can affect your dog are roundworms, hookworm, heart worm, tapeworm and whip worm
. Some parasites can live as long as three years in your soil. Viruses include Canine Parvovirus and Canine
Distemper.

Keep in mind that as well as ruining the appearance (and smell) of your property, pet waste attracts disease-
carrying pets endangering the health of you and your pets.
